Hola family, friend, foe, acquaintance or random, welcome to my travel blog. Its a little bit late going up unfortunately, but definately better late than never. I'm just sitting in the 3 black cats hostel in Belgrade, its day 15 of my big journey and i'm feeling pretty tired by now, so its a perfect time to sit down and reflect on whats been happening and whats about to go on.
Ok, so before I do give you the biz on the madness over the last few weeks i'm just gonna explain what Redmundial means. As you may (or may not) know my name is Eddie, shortened down from Edmund, which is the same name as my Dad and his Dad and so on. Im a Liverpool FC fan (YNWA), also spanish is so far my favorite language, and the spanish for world is mundial. So all added together is Redmundial. Simple, I know.
Rightsky, the last few weeks has seen me leave my family and friends in Belfast, all of which have helped me get this trip off the ground very much either monetarily or otherwise. I had a few leaving do's with them, all bloody good craic if I do say so myself, but then Belfast is generally good craic all of the time. Next I hit Liverpool, met by my good friend Lance Etherington Smythe IV (who has just become a dad for the 1st time to a boy called Harry). He was shocked to find that instead of going straight to Manchester, I had booked in to do the tour at Anfield, home of the mighty Liverpool FC. I did call Everton to see if they had any tours, seeing as Lance is an Evertonian (poor fella). Unfortunately for Lance they havent won too much so the tours were only on a few days a week. So we mooched on down to Anfield after a wander round the interesting city centre, but they wouldnt let Lance in, apparently it was booked up but I reckon it was because they knew he was a blue. Id already paid for my tour so Lance went on over to Goodison, Evertons ground and he managed to get in pitchside on his own for free, a bit of a result, while I paid a tenner for a pretty quick tour. So the time had was about even I reckon.
That was pretty much it for Liverpool, but I should just quickly mention the cathedral. Theres a huge one down there that has a maskive tower, its so big you can see jupiter!! Ok, well maybe not, but on a good day you can see Manchester and of course the whole of Liverpool, so anyone down that way its def worth checking out. As for me, it is (was) next stop Manchester, me old stomping grounds...
